Level 1

Grades 8-12

The Level 1 program introduces our highly acclaimed violence prevention assertiveness model. The topics covered delve into many social and emotional survival issues youth are facing in their day-to-day lives. Teens can experience tremendous pressure and anxiety both online and face-to-face. They struggle with the need to fit in, body image issues and gender stereotypes and more. Safeteen offers them strategies to navigate these issues skillfully and effectively. By utilizing experiential exercises, role-plays and dialogue participants will learn to access their inner-wisdom, hone their critical thinking in order to stand up and speak up for what they believe in without violence.

Level 2

Grades 8-12

In these workshops, youth will experience interactive exercises, dialogue and powerful theatre pieces to address openly sexual boundaries and consent. The Power of Choice - Female: a Level 2 workshop for female-identifies youth provides them with an opportunity to examine their behaviors, establish boundaries and find their power in relationship to sexual consent. The Power of Choice - Male: a Level 2 workshop for male-identified youth examines male issues of sexuality and power, young men will be invited to step up to the authentic power of personal choice and to step into their full humanity with dignity and courage.

  • Gender socialization and stereotypes

  • Girl-girl violence

  • Physical self-defense skills

 

Female-Identified - Level 2

The Power of Choice

Building on the skills and content of Level 1, this workshops has a specific focus on healthy sexual boundaries. 

  • Identifying, building and respecting boundaries

  • Healthy intimate relationships

  • Breaking abusive patterns

  • Identifying rape culture and victim blaming

  • Online safety

  • Impact of Pornography

  • Realities and legalities of sexting and online harassment

  • Internal and external self-harm

Male-Identified - Level 1

Topics Covered:

  • Non-violent communication

  • Fear and anger management

  • Verbal and body language skills

  • Bullying - verbal violence prevention

  • De-escalating potential violence

  • Personal boundaries and consent

  • Power dynamics and intimidation

  • Signs of abuse

  • Gender socialization and stereotypes

  • Sexual harassment

  • Sexual assault

  • Guy-guy violence

  • "Stepping down" with dignity

 

Male-Identified - Level 2

The Power of Choice

Building on the skills and content of Level 1, this workshop has a specific focus on healthy sexual boundaries.

Workshop Details - Levels 1 & 2

  • 2.5 - 3 hour block of time is needed

  • Delivered to genders-specific groups

  • Maximum 30 youth per workshop in private classrooms

  • Whiteboard, chalkboard or flip chart required

  • In-Town $475 + GST per workshop, travel fees may apply

  • If you book Level 1 & 2 for the same grade within a school year, receive each workshop at $375 + GST, travel fees may apply.

  • Out-of-town $675 + GST per workshop, travel fees will apply, contact us
